50 PLUS FIRST AID

The surrounding areas of Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch have a high percentage of elderly residents from the age of 50 and upwards. This means that the chances of you performing first aid on a casualty above within this age group is equally high.

The course will provide you with basic first aid awareness training and accident prevention to adults over the age of 50. It include many areas of focus such as, providing care for partners and dealing with incidents involving younger members of the family. There is also a section on pet first aid.

Due to Department of Health figures released in November 2016, Dementia is now the biggest killer in the UK. This course will cover how to diagnose someone who, as well as being inured, may be also be suffering from this disease and how to treat them appropriately. This disease will be covered when assessing a situation and doing a head to toe survey.

After course completion, the learner will have a greater understanding of the possible injuries and illnesses that could affect all age groups.

The course is classroom based with practical training using the most up to date equipment and presentation materials. Attendees are encouraged to use role play as a learning tool and questions are positively encouraged.

Training will also cover Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and an introduction to the practical use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, there is a legal requirement for all businesses to have in place at least, one First Aider per 100 employees, depending on the classification of business and risk assessments and factors.

All Resuscitation Council and Health & Safety Executive recommendations and regulations will be continually updated and included in all sessions, ensuring your employees receive the most accurate and up to date teaching.
